Help with Agate

Requirements

macOS 26 or later on a Mac with Apple silicon. On-device summaries and classification need Apple Intelligence to be turned on.

Permissions Agate asks for

• Microphone — your side of a meeting.
• System audio recording — the other participants, captured from the call app’s audio.
• Speech recognition — on-device transcription.

If a meeting transcribes only one side, check both Microphone and Screen & System Audio Recording under System Settings › Privacy & Security.

Recording

Agate offers to record a meeting that is on your calendar, names it after the event, and stops when the meeting ends. A meeting that is not on your calendar is always asked about first, never started silently.

Connections

Accounts are under Settings › Accounts; what each one lets Agate do is under Abilities in the sidebar. If a service stops syncing, open its page and choose Reconnect. The Sync log under Accounts shows what each sync did.

Coming from Rythm

Agate was called Rythm until September 2026. The first time Agate opens it copies your Rythm store, notes and sign-ins across; macOS may ask once to let Agate read the old keychain item — choose Always Allow. Nothing in the old folders is deleted. Recording and speech permissions are asked for again because the app has a new identity.

Where your data lives

In your user Library, on your Mac — see the privacy policy. Export and Clear Database are in the app’s menus.
